Previous awards to Wingate Scholars
The Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation has, through the Wingate Scholarships Scheme, been giving awards for Scholarships for 22 years. Since 1988 over 1,000 scholars from many different countries have benefited from awards totalling £7.2m. These awards have made a huge difference, enabling individuals to undertake or complete a wide variety of projects of intellectual, scientific, artistic, social or environmental value.
In 2009 there were 611 applications to the programme, of which 98 people were interviewed and 37 scholarships were awarded.
Further information about the history and achievements of the Wingate Scholarships can be found on the Anniversary Archive website which was set up in 1988 to celebrate the scheme's 20 year anniversary. The website was created to act as a living archive containing contributions from Wingate scholars past and present who wished to share their experiences of what receiving a Wingate Scholarship has meant for them.
